Born in Carimate, Italy in 1968, Carlo Colombo studied architecture at the Politecnico in Milan and graduated in 1993. He started working as a designer and as a consultant for the industry and within two years of his graduation, he also began working on the restructuring of buildings and private houses. From 1996 he has worked within the Faculty of Architecture at the Politecnico in Milan where he holds lessons about industrial packaging. He has designed many important buildings, such as residential villas in Lugano, Como, Venice, Brianza and outside Milan.
Colombo has been the recipient of several prestigious awards. Most notably, these have included The Designer of the Year award in Tokyo (2004), Elle Décor International Design Award for the “Tender” sink for Antonio Lupi (2005) and the MD International Magazine of Design Award for the Nicolò table. He has several pieces on display in international museums and design and art exhibitions. Colombo has designed extensively for Poliform and has worked with many other renowned furniture companies including Arflex, Cappellini, Flexform, Poltrona Frau, Varenna, Ycami Edizioni and Zanotta.
